How to see if there's Java in my Mac?

Hello!


I saw this article.

Basically as long as I have no Java, I have nothing to fear? I read that newer Macs lack Java (thank you, Apple!), but is there a way to check if there is no Java at all? It would make me feel easier.

I checked System Preferences and if there is Java around, there should be that steaming tea cup symbol somewhere in lowest level of System Preferences?


I just want to make sure I really don't have that Java garbage.

Better stated, it means there is one less thing to worry about. Read Effective defenses against malware and other threats.


Copy (triple-click to select the entire line) and Paste the following in Terminal


sudo /usr/libexec/java_home


Type your password at the prompt. It will not be echoed.


If you do not have Java installed you will get the following output


Unable to find any JVMs matching version "(null)".

No Java runtime present, try --request to install.
