iPhoto won't import Photos from iPhone 5c after iOS 10 update

Hi All,

After installing iOS 10 on my 5c, iPhoto won't import photos. It says it can't because my iPhone is locked with a passcode. It does this even when the phone is open, and even if I have my passcode turned off. I'm using 10.6.8 on a 2006 Mac Pro Tower.

Is anyone else having this problem? Can anyone help? Thanks!

And I'm just learning this now? After the update? Lion is the latest OS I can run on this computer. Forcing me to buy a new Mac at this time is not cool at all. Apple keeps doing this to me, and I have no way of going back to iOS 9.

I am terminally ill and on a fixed income. Buying a new computer right now is not in the cards. Why doesn't Apple give us more warning about these things? Unbelievable.

I will get an argument from any others on this issue, but agree with you that Apple does a poor job of making users aware of what is needed with regard to OS and iTunes requirements before they upgrade their iOS devices. The information is out there, but it is not listed on any web site where they hype the download.

Nowhere on this website does it say or link to any information about syncing with iTunes.

I have an iMac from late 2013 running 10.12.0 (Sierra), and I have iPhoto 9.6.1 installed on the iMac.

The problem is the same: since the update to iOS 10 (actually my iPhone 6 runs 10.0.2), there is no automatic import of pictures from the iPhone any more, although the setting in iPhoto (still) is "Conneting Camera opens: iPhoto".

The sync of Fotos via iTunes works, and iTunes also syncs Fotos from iPhoto to the iPhone as it should.

It seems that the import to iPhoto has been disabled from iPhones running iOS 10?

Or is this a problem that is caused by the Photos app?

I just discovered I am also having this problem. I upgraded my iPhone 6s to iOS 10.0.2. My MacBook Pro is on Mac OS X 10.6. I haven't upgraded the OS on my laptop because I have a lot of software on it that I use regularly and that would likely not work if I upgrade to Yosemite.

If Apple does not solve this issue soon, I will contact my state's Attorney General and the state Department of Consumer Protection. This forced obsolescence is unconscionable.

I Have been dying to know. How did this work out for you? Did you contact the AG? If so, I would love to know what he or she says about it.

Forced obsolescence. Really? You are using an OS that is 7 years old?
