my music will not play or download to my phone

My music that I have on CD and uploaded into itunes is being held hostage by itunes. I apparently cannot download my music on my phone or play it on my computer unless I pay to join apple music. How do I get my music and transfer it to another music app to sync with my computer and iphone? My music collection is not owned by Apple and should not become unavailable because I don't want to pay for their music service. I prefer Pandora. I did not have this problem with my iphone6 plus, but I was able to get my music onto my phone before the rollout of this new annoying music service from apple.
