Q: iTunes won't sync all my songs

Hi there,

I have just got myself the iPhone 7 128gb phone after having a 5 for 4 years or so. I spent Saturday evening setting it up using iTunes, however I am now finding that a fair few of my songs aren't playing on my iPhone, which I think must be down to a sync issue. Now to begin with, the syncing and setting up from backup process took about 8 hours over night. This may be down to my laptop (Windows 10) or the fact that I have over 9000 songs to put on there. I have had this issue in the past but now some of my more listened to songs, which I haven't previously had problems with, aren't playing on the phone.

So after syncing the first time, I had an error appear saying that certain songs could be not be synced, so I tried again and again and this number of songs got smaller and smaller each time BUT some of the songs never appeared on this list and still cannot be played on the phone. It's very odd and I can't even just drag them on the the device. My iTunes has 9415 songs but my device only says it has 8971 (excessive in either case I know).

The frustrating thing is that the songs that are missing seem to be ones that I particularly want to listen for some reason i.e. those that I maybe listened to mostly just before upgrading to the iPhone 7, but is not limited to those songs. When I click on my device on iTunes, and click on "Music", these songs won't play here either, but don't appear any different to songs around them or show errors. These songs do play in normal iTunes i.e. in the library.

I am updated to iOS 10.0.2 and iTunes is 12.5.1.

I am posting here before I go through the agony of pulling all of the songs off the device and restoring.

Please can anybody help?

Thanks,

Mike
