Q: how can I protect folders from being deleted?

I would like to be able to secure a folder within a folder... or just a folder so that it and its contents cannot be deleted.  Is there a way to accomplish this in which a guy who does not know much.

MacBook Pro (17-inch Late 2011), using OS 10.10.5
