Q: Backup Password Issue

Over the last few days I have talked to online, gone to the Apple Store.  It was decided that I had to reset my iphone since I was having unexpected shut downs and it was affecting my watch.   I was told that I had to clear out all setting and start over which seemed easy enough.  It had not been a pleasant experience.

 

I was asked for a backup password which I have never put in. The online support information was basically telling me that I was up a creek without a paddle.  But I hung in there and no thanks to the online suggestions  I finally  put in my password for my mac and it worked.  I also went through the password process on the iPhone as if I was creating it new until it asked if I wanted to use a backup.

 

After several hours, and no pertinent information  on the support site, I was able to restore on my own knowledge.  I think that Apple needs to put out a specific instruction that gives each specific step to do this type of restore.
