Q: Storage shows 0 bytes remaining, but I have plenty

I've gone through and deleted nearly all of my messages, pictures, and quite a few apps. But my storage still says that I've used 11.6 GB (the maximum for my phone) and have 0 available. Ever since this problem has come about, I cannot take pictures or videos, nor can I save any sent to me. I can't even record a video on Snapchat. And recently, my phone does not tell me if a message has been sent, they just stack up and all say "1 of 7 sent" for example. I don't even get a notification if I've received a text message even though my notifications are on. I have no clue what to do or why this is happening but if anyone has a fix, I'm open to just about anything.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Helmsson.

It sounds like you're having some issues with storage space on your iPhone, Messages not showing they were sent, and notifications not working when you receive an incoming message. I rely on my iPhone daily so I can certainly understand why you would reach out for help when you're experiencing so many issues with yours. I'm happy to help get you on the right path to getting this resolved.

The first thing I would recommend doing is restoring your iPhone in iTunes on a computer. This is going to load a fresh copy of the software onto your iPhone and hopefully clear out any software issues causing you problems. Since restoring is going to erase everything, backing up your phone first is imperative to preserving your data. If you're unfamiliar with how to back up, you can find the steps in How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

After you have backed up, restore your iPhone with the steps listed in Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings. Once the restore completes, you will be walked through some setup steps on your iPhone. When you are given the option to set up the phone as new, restore from an iCloud backup, or restore from iTunes, choose the option to set it up as new. The reason for this is so your iPhone can be tested with no data on it. During this time, you can still sign into services that require your Apple ID. Test out your Messages and check to see what's going on with your storage as well.

The final step would be to restore your backup to your phone and then test it out again. You can find steps on how to restore from back in Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Take care.
