Mac OS XWhen I plug my iPod in, it will connect for a minute, but then will eject itself.
That may be normal, if the iPod is not set to Manually manage music and videos and/or Enable disk use. Less than a minute is about how long it takes for iTunes to mount the iPod, do its initial sync, and then unmount the iPod, if there's nothing to sync. However, the iPod remains accessible in iTunes. If you updated iTunes from 11.x (or earlier) to 12.x, it looks different.
Look on iTunes window, after connecting iPod. Near the upper-left corner, look for iPod's device button. Here's a screenshot of my iTunes window (upper-left corner) with iPod's device button circled in red
If you see that button, click it to show iPod's Summary settings screen in iTunes window.
