Can't hear using Head phone in iPhone, Headphones are not an issue.

Can't hear using Head phone in iPhone, Headphones are not an issue.But after a short while I restarted my phone it works fine. What may be the problem whether its a hardware issue or software. What can I have to do to avoid this problem in future?.
