Q: Trackpad issues after Sierra update

Hi all,

After upgrading to Sierra, my trackpad has issues when waking from sleep. After waking up, the screen shows white noise, then the login appears, but the trackpad is reverted to single touch and does not scroll or tap-to-click.

Also, after a restart, everything is normal (but when booting, the speakers make a single, loud static pop).

I've reset nvram and pram, and reset the smc eventually. Everything else works like a charm.

Anybody?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), macOS Sierra (10.12)

I also have problems with the trackpad (Macbook Pro 2015). Called Apple support this morning, did a safe reboot, then reset parameters, which seemed to work for some time, but the problem is back now. The trackpad lost about 25% of its functions. For example, Mail won't open messages by clicking on them, double-clicking on words won't highlight them, and sometimes I cannot select the folder where I want to save a file. Obviously a Sierra update issue and it occurs intermittently within any application.

Follow up on my previous post: I went to the Apple store and had my macbook examined by a technician. He knew about the issue and said the best solution for me was to downgrade to El Capitan and wait until Sierra had been tested for several months (by customers!) before reinstalling it...
