y wont my phone let me upgrade to ios 8 or higher

i got a iphone 4s that wont let me upgrade my ios to a 8.0 or higher and it wont pick up wifi unless im closer than 4 feet from the router

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1.2

I suspect it is an iPhone 4. Max iOS is 7.1.2 for the 4, 9.3.5 for the 4s.

Every router or just yours?

Your device is not compatible with IOS 8/9/10 as it can't handle all of the features those operating systems have, even if it was your phone will be constantly crashing and not running smoothly but i recommend an upgrade if its a big problem 🙂
