Q: Messages not showing up after restore

So I recently had to restore my iPhone from a recent backup file I had saved. Under my messages app, it's entirely empty; however, under my storage management, it says that I'm using up 1.8 gigs of space. Is there a known way to get my saved messages to show up on my phone?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.3.5

    I see from your post that after restoring from an iOS backup, you've noticed that your content in Messages is missing. You've also noticed that 1.8 GB is being occupied by Messages when you check your storage. I can certainly understand the concern here; I know it's important to have access to everything in your backup. I'm happy to help!

    If you haven't already, I'd recommend that you restart your iPhone as a first step to see if the Messages data comes back. Take a look at this resource for more information:

    If the issue persists after you restart, I'd recommend that you try restoring from your backup once more to see if the same problem persists. If the problem continues after restoring from this backup a second time, you may want to choose a different backup to restore from if you have one.
