I see from your post that after restoring from an iOS backup, you've noticed that your content in Messages is missing. You've also noticed that 1.8 GB is being occupied by Messages when you check your storage. I can certainly understand the concern here; I know it's important to have access to everything in your backup. I'm happy to help!
If you haven't already, I'd recommend that you restart your iPhone as a first step to see if the Messages data comes back. Take a look at this resource for more information:Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the issue persists after you restart, I'd recommend that you try restoring from your backup once more to see if the same problem persists. If the problem continues after restoring from this backup a second time, you may want to choose a different backup to restore from if you have one.
