Scanner connection issue error message"Error occurred while communicating with scanner-9923" HP printer Officejet G510n-3

Scanner connection issue with Macbook Air running OSx El Capitain 10.11.6. Scanner had been fine till today and error message"Error occurred while communicating with scanner-9923" HP printer Officejet G510n-3

Uninstalling/reinstalling printer makes no difference, trashed HP Scan and downloaded HP Easy Scan, no joy. Image capture had been working fine..now it can't find the scanner but it will print ok and the software find the fax as well.

Any ideas welcome....

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

I resolved this by un-installing all HP printer software deleting to trash and emptying then

downloading and re-installing from the HP site. A real pain!

Hey, I tried to do the complete uninstall, then trashed everything then reinstalled from the HP website. I still get the message "An error occurred while communicating with the scanner." when I try to use HP Easy Scan though (I tried also scanning from my printer; same result). Are you able to scan now with no issues at all?
