Q: car play

After upgrading to IOS10 my new JVC car play unit will no longer connect after the car has started.  I have to have the phone plugged in prior to starting the car for it to work.  This worked fine with 9.3.5 it is very annoying.

iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2

    Hello Buckee,

Thanks for asking about your issue with your JVC CarPlay unit after iOS 10 here in the Apple Support Communities. I understand how important it is to have my music with me while driving. I'm happy to offer some things to check this with you.

The first thing we want to ensure is that all your data is safe. You can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article : How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Once you have your backup and know your data is safe, please open our help articles: Get help connecting your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with your car stereo  and Set up CarPlay to use with your iPhone.

The first article has options to try depending if you are using a bluetooth or USB connection. The second article is for if you connect through CarPlay. In both articles, there is a step that states that you may need to check your car’s manual for help to install firmware updates for your stereo. Since this issue just started after upgrading, I believe the stereo needs a driver or firmware update to allow it to work with the new iOS version.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

So Apple "break" some basic CarPlay functions (such as playlist ordering - a real shame!) and car manufacturers must update their firmware?? I think Apple should make sure their products work consistently after software updates, especially after all the beta and public beta testing.

We're talking about basic functionality, not new features!

Firmware has been updated release date 15/09.  My iPhone 5 with 9.3.5 works seamlessly with the JVC as did my iPhone 6 prior to the ios10 update.
