Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to get help for your friend. I can see from your post that your friends' iPad Air 2 has a red screen but hasn't been dropped or damaged. Having a working display on your device is crucial and I'd be happy to help get this working again. If your friend hasn't tried already, they should perform a forced restart. These steps can be found in the link below.

If this does not get the iPad screen to display normally, then we'll need to get this looked at further at an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Your friend can locate one near them with this link here: Find Locations
