Q: Apple Watch S2 Handwritten Function in 'Message' App is in Chinese and I can't change it!

Just received the Apple Watch S2 today. The handwritten function in the 'Message' app is in Chinese. I have switched the Language to English on the Apple Watch app on my iPhone 7 but to no avail. You can see from the following image, the preset replies are all in Chinese too.

    Hi

To use Scribble, the language for any given conversation needs to be a supported language for Scribble.

These are currently English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

To change the language for a conversation, tap on Reply and then press firmly on the display.

    Hi Jon,

Thanks for that. I did as told but it seems this only works for native app "Messages". On third party web messaging apps such as "Telegram", I did as advised but the default language switches back to Chinese (in my case) every time I launch the app.

The default language on my Apple watch is currently set to English (US).

Try changing the keyboard language within Telegram (and any other affected third-party app) on your iPhone.

Do this separately for each affected conversation:

    • Open a conversation on your iPhone > tap on the globe icon (by the space bar) to cycle through available keyboard languages.
    • Check whether the default language has changed for that conversation on your Apple Watch.

OK this solved the problem --

I removed the Simplified Chinese keyboard on my iPhone. Then added back the Simplified Chinese keyboard again. And the Apple Watch Scribble is now displaying the correct default language which I've set as English.
