Bluetooth totally gone in windows 10

I tried the following with no success:

1. uninstall the Widcomm and all Broadcom drivers
2. list using "pnputil -e" and delete using "pnputil -f -d oem<xx>.inf" all Broadcom instances
3. reboot, install the Widcomm driver and then run the Bootcamp driver BroadcomBluetooth64.exe

At this point the Bluetooth mouse works again. However, if I power cycle the yellow triangle comes back on the "Broadcom Serial Bus Driver over UART Bus Enumerator" and the mouse stops working.

I believe the hardware is fine because the mouse works without issue running MacOS.

Welcome to Windows, which insists on giving the latest/greatest drivers, even if you prefer stability over bleeding edge. 😉

Can you take a look at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2500967 on how to disable such backdoor updates?

Update. This same Bluetooth problem resurfaced shortly after submitting the previous post. I visited Broadcom's website and downloaded the latest version of their Bluetooth stack. Specifically, for my MacBook Pro 2016 I downloaded their "WIDCOMM Bluetooth Windows Software for Windows 10 & 8, 64 bit" dated 04/08/2016. After unzipping the package and running the setup the yellow triangle next to the "Broadcom Serial Bus Driver over UART Bus Enumerator" device disappeared again and my Bluetooth mouse started working. I then tested a power cycle and much to my dismay the yellow triangle next to the "Broadcom Serial Bus Driver over UART Bus Enumerator" came back and the Bluetooth mouse stopped working. Ugh.

Use pnputil.exe to remove all drivers for this device, before you install the Widcomm driver and test.

Yes, that is my plan. I am returning my shiny new MacBook Pro to get away from Windows 10 and buying a notebook that still runs Windows 7 for better control, stability and compatibility. Thank you for the support!

In Windows Control Panel -> Device Manager, click on View and enable Show Hidden Devices. Do you see your BT adapter? If yes, is Windows configured for Automatic Updates?

You may also need to repair/re-install BC6 drivers which can be downloaded using BC Assistant to a USB flash drive.

Can you check the versions of drivers? If you have older drivers in the driver store, you will need to remove them using pnputil.exe.

Now when the drivers are gone, go into Device Manager, click the Action drop down menu and select Scan for hardware changes and if all goes well, install new Bluetooth drivers. After that, check if they are up to date as well by right clicking on them and Update Driver Software.

It might help to check in your OS X for bluetooth hardware info so you can find appropriate Win 10 drivers more easily.

Hold Option (Alt) key and click on Apple logo and go to System Information -> Bluetooth.

The BT Device(s) have been removed. They should come back. After an SMC and NVRAM Reset, please run setup.exe from the Bootcamp folder and check. It is possible to install individual drivers by hand with Scan for Hardware Changes. If you use WHQL BT drivers, it will not work.
