Q: network advice needed

BT Modem - Airport Extreme

I then have:

x1 Airport express (Ethernet cable)

x2 Airport express (Power lines/Wifi)

x1 Time Capsule.

I currently have the time capsule connected to the airport extreme via Ethernet but this isn't doing anything over and above the extreme other than backing up my MAC.

so what I really want to do is replace the express connected to the extreme via Ethernet cable with the time capsule, use the capsule to create the wifi network and move the express out to my shed for more wifi coverage.

will this work?

Potentially yes. You are sort of describing a hybrid extended/roaming network which, as you can imagine, can be a bit tricky to set up properly.

What I would suggest is that you set up the roaming part first with the routers that will be interconnected by Ethernet/Powerline; make sure that it is working properly, and then, create the extended network with the Express.
