I've seen this question asked a few times, but always in relation to music purchased from the iTunes store. My library is 99% ripped CDs and downloads from other sites such as HDTracks or Bandcamp.
I recent purchased a 256GB iPhone 7 with a view to uploading more of my music (and without converting to 256kps). I have never signed up to Apple Music, nor uploaded music to iCloud. Every track is local on my network (iMac plus NAS for films and music). The only time I listen to music on my phone is when I'm on a flight, on a train or in the car. Streaming music is as useful to me as an ashtray on a motorcycle.
I have had the phone for two weeks and in that time have been forced to reload 6000 plus songs three times, as iTunes keeps erasing the music from my phone when I sync.
Is iTunes forcing me to use Apple Music and/or only listen to music purchased from the store? Or is my NAS possibly causing an issue?
