iPhone 7 Home Button Freezes

It was marked solved because obviously the right answer is to go to the Apple Store and be belittled by a "Genuis" when you can't replicate the issue. This is clearly a firmware issue that needs addressed with the next iOS update.

I managed to get mine out of it's hangup by repeatedly pressing both home and power simultaneously. It spazzed the phone out a few times whilst it was trying to work out what I wanted it to do... This put it back to the lock screen. After that it was fine... for now 😟

I'm using iphone 7 plus, I encounter similar problem on 2 separate occasions where both the home button and even the power button were unresponsive.

On the 1st ocassion, my phone screen did not turn on when I press the home button or the power button. I did not power off the phone previously and somehow the screen display would not turn on. I plug in the lightning cable then it start responding and shows battery at 93%.

On the 2nd occasion, I was using the phone halfway similar as you. I click the home button and there was no response. I click the power button and there was no response either. I had to wait for a while before it starts responding again.

I have been ordering directly from Apple store and using different series of iphones for many years. This is first time I'm encountering home button and power button not responding.

This has happened to be probably half a dozen times already. It will lock up and the home button does absolutely nothing when I click it. My only option is restart (press and hold power + volume down and wait until Apple logo appears, then release buttons).

I'm not sure why it "froze up" either. But a forced restart might help "reset" things:
