Try a SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.

If your Macbook Pro is old enough, it is possible the battery is failing, and swelling up, which can push against the trackpad and cause it to fail.
If this is a fairly new Macbook Pro, then the battery is most likely not an issue.

BobHarris, It's a 2011 I believe, so it could also be the battery. I'll try the first step and go from there, Thanks.
