How can I save photos from iCloud to my MacBook Pro?

I turned off Photos on my iCloud preferences and it told me I have 30 days to make sure I have all the photos. It turns out I DO NOT. Now I can't figure out how to download them into my PHOTOS app on my MacBook Pro.

I can do one at a time by downloading and then saving, or sending to Facebook and then saving to PHOTOS. There must be a more efficient way!!

Thank you in advance

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

If you are trying to download them from the Photos app at https://www.icloud.com/ you can do more than one at a time. After clicking "Select Photos" you can click on 1 photo and then scroll and then hold down the shift key while clicking another photo and it well select all of the photos in between.

The other option would be to turn iCloud Photo Library back on and in your Photos Preferences turn "Download Originals to this Mac" on and allow the photos to download before turning off iCloud Photo Library.
