log base y Scientific Calculator

Hi guys,

I searched online for documentation about the log base y button in the iOS Scientific Calculator but I couldn't find any.

What is it?

Is it the inverse log function?

If so what base? Base 10, 2 or e?

Thanks for the help.

This is not an inverse logarithm, it is a logarithm using any other base than existing buttons for base 10 or base 2 logarithms. The "y" is whatever base you want to use for the logarithm.

Suppose you'd want the base 4 logarithm of the number 12 (i.e. log4 12). The keystrokes you would use would be:

  • 12
  • logy
  • 4
  • =
