Q: iphone5 shut down memory nearly full warnings unresponsive update not downloading

My iphone5 shut down; had warnings for memory nearly full (even tho I’d deleted 5-6 apps and bunches of photos/v.mails/etc); now unresponsive; only apple logo showing for 30 secs, then off; can get the itunes/cord logo to appear but it also craps out after little while; computer recognizes with a noise when plugged in, but does nothing; itunes only recognizes when phone is in the cord/itunes logo screen, but phone goes blank after so many minutes (4-8??). Have downloaded itunes update over and over and over, and itunes taking over 1.5 hours several times(!!) to download 'update' to phone... but NOTHING happens afterwards, and when I try again to recognize phone, go thru the same crap. I cannot do ANYthing with it!! help!

    Hey wendyab,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I can see from your post that you've been dealing with an issue with your iPhone shutting down and/or being unresponsive and want to help get your iPhone  working reliably again. In these situations, you might need to use recovery mode to restore your device. Below you'll find a link that can help you put your device in recovery mode and set it up again to restore functionality to your device as it was intended.

If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    Cheers.
