Connecting Apple TV (4th gen) to Older Sony Blu Ray

is it possible to connect a 4th generation Apple TV through an older Sony Blue Ray DvD player and then connect that player to an old Sony plasma screen TV so that I can play both DVD's and Apple tv through the TV ? There's no HDMI Port on the back of the television and i've already tried the DVI to HDMI road, but couldn't get any sound from apple tv content.

Absent buying a new television, that's anyone else have a solution?

I think it's quite unlikely but couldn't say for sure without knowing more about the Sony device. However to stand any chance of working it would need an HDMI input and some way of converting the signal to it's final output signal type and a method of switching. Additionally it is unlikely to allow the playback of protected content from the iTunes store and other places if it doesn't output HDMI or DVI.
