However to stand any chance of working it would need an HDMI input and some way of converting the signal to it's final output signal type and a method of switching. Additionally it is unlikely to allow the playback of protected content from the iTunes store and other places if it doesn't output HDMI or DVI.

not all revisions of dvi support hdcp encryption which most services in appletv rely on
and no versions of dvi support audio
