Q: Battery draining fast - after Mac OS Sierra update

Hi, I am not able to figure out any cause yet, but my battery is dying real fast for the past few days since I upgraded to Mac OS Sierra. I could use my mac almost for 5-6 hours in a single charge but now its hardly staying for 2-2.5 hrs. Anybody experiencing a similar problem? I have been checking the activity monitor to see if any specific app consuming lot, but I don't see anything different from what I had earlier. Thoughts?

I've been having the same problems; the battery draining in an hour or 2 compared with 6-10 before, and the bottom of the laptop is always really hot, and it takes 2-3 times longer to charge the laptop now as well as the battery is draining so fast

Can i use a Time Machine backup to revert on Capitan ?

Reboot, Hold ⌘R, Select “Restore from a Time Machine Backup”, you will then see a list, look for OS X 10.11.6

Note: You will lose any data created since that point in time, so before reverting copy any new files, photos, etc to a flash drive to copy back when El Captain is restored.  If you have any locally saved emails, then create a new mailbox, move any new emails to the new mailbox, then Mail->Mailbox->Export Mailboxes to a flash drive  (use Mail->File->Import to copy back to El Captain)

Can anyone from Apple give us a solution ?

i am feeling like i am talking with the Moon !!

10.12.1 is rumored to be released by the end of the month.

If there is any solution by Apple it will be in updates.

Try this: Safari Technology Preview, version 14. I've been using it for several days without issue. What I don't understand is I was using it before Sierra without issue too. Then "upgraded" and started trying the released Safari and it takes energy big time so I went back to STP.

I have the same problem.  My battery is draining fast and my MacBook Pro is heating much more than before. Please give a solution.

I have this issue as a problem too. Is an absurd apple programmer team available a system that drain battery so fast. Problem as connection bluetooth and other issues we can understand! But, the battery is the life of computer function and when it is drained so fast because of the upgrade to MacOS Sierra it is making that we lose time of work, considering that we buy a expensive macbook because of the longer battery life.

Apple programmer team need fix this so urgent!!! Because the Johnny Ive video of macbook presentation will drop as  a ridicules meme to internet!!!!

I found this way, it solved your problem as mine, too.

    1. sign in safe mode: restart mac and hold Shift until sign in safe mode.

    2. keep on 1 minutes inside safe mode.

    3. restart again and check result.

i don't know why, my mac is colder and battery is same el capita or yosemite.

I did this. Now, Safari only works in Safe Mode. In running mode, Safari will not load or display any web pages. I've cleared all the history and the cache.db file. I've done an SMC reset. Nothing. Chrome and Firefox work. But, it won't run my battery down.

did you try my way and now safary is not working normally? Generally, we sign in safe mode only, and stay inside 1 minute without doing nothing. i think that in safe mode mac reset temporatery file which mightbe makes problem.

restart and sign in normally, mac is better.

Safe Mode is NOT the answer!

The answer is on Page 2 of these comments! Sheesh!

I'm having the same problem with my mac book. This is VERY upsetting. VERY!

I start 10:30am with 80% battery, now its 13pm and is 24%!!! My computer is about 1 year old!

I wish I hadn't update from El Capitan!
