I've got a macbook pro (17 inch, mid 2010) 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 and I'm running Sierra 10.12.1 Beta.
Recently I've noticed my speakers are extremely low. With headphones it's okay, but without, I need the room to be completely silent - not even a fan running - in order to hear.
I'm tried a command-option P R restart without any luck.
Any suggestions?

I do not understand what you mean by 'low'?
Have you tried a NVRAM reset?

1. Reset SMC.
Choose the appropriate method.

2. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
Audio Devices window
Side Bar
Click the Built-in Output.
Make sure that Format is set at 44100.0 Hz.
Make sure that volume sliders are set properly.
speakers are low
