Q: Memory on my mac

My mac memory is almost full and I always struggle to free up the memory space. I notice that 46gb is photos and 43gb is movies (which will be movies / recordings from phone not actual movies). I have just upgraded the iCloud storeage to 200gb but I don't know how to transfer photos to iCloud from the Mac.

I am absolutely clueless with regard to technical stuff on computers so if you can assist me, please explain in idiot terms please! Desperate to get this memory sorted as slowing everything down.

What model Mac do you have?
You posted in the Mac pro desktop forum.

It seems you are talking about disk storage and not memory.
What size drive do you have?

You can use an external drive or upgrade your Mac to a bigger drive

You really can't delete photos from the Mac without also deleting them from iCloud. To use the iCloud Photos library see:
