2012 MacBook Pro 15 AirPort Card Upgrade to AC?
The AirPort card in my mid-2012 MBP 15 is failing. Is it user replaceable? If so, can I upgrade my MBP to a wireless AC AirPort card?

I would be looking for the QuickerTek uCard 4 which they claim would work in a MBP 17 late 2011.
But I would want to see *any* review of one before I dare order. http://www.quickertek.com/products/Ucard.html
I've been contemplating ordering one and trying it out. I've bounced across this post for quite a while and see that Ron never came back and answer. I see a lot of people on different sites suggesting Quickertek's product, but none that ever came back and commented on it. I'm beginning to wonder if they, for example, Ron Napier here, work with or are affiliated with Quickertek somehow and are just spouting nonsense.
So, since we haven't heard from Mr. Napier, I've put an order in for one of these cards and, like Mr. Napier, I was given a 4 week lead time before shipping.
I'll be posting the results when/if I get it.
The WIFI chip is on the motherboard and is not user serviceable or changeable. You might be able to find an external WIFI adapter that supports 802.11ac, but the internal one is not upgradeable.
Thank you, silvergc! I did find a USB wireless AC adapter, but as of this writing, there are no Sierra drivers for it, so gonna have to wait. Cheers!
It is not user replaceable, but it is replaceable. At this point, you probably don't have a warranty to void; but be careful in there (or have someone else do it for you).
The only upgrade option I could find is Quickertech: http://www.quickertek.com/products/Ucard.html I put in an order for one for my 2012 15" MacBook Pro, but was told it will take about 4 weeks--can't say anything about it, since I haven't gotten one yet.
I did upgrade the wifi in my 2010 11" MacBook Air (1.6Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM) to 802.11 AC & BT LE 4. Don't have an AC router yet, but really wanted the Continuity and Apple Watch unlock--both were enabled once installed (it was around $30, so I didn't care that this system is a wee bit outdated).
Hi,
You test the uCard 4 in your macbook pro?

Thanks
