Q: transcription of voicemail

The latest I phone update included Beta transcription of voice messages. Nice feature but I don't want it. How do I turn it on and off and go back to audio voice mail only? The audio track is displayed as well as the duration of the message. Nothing plays when play is selected.

There is no way to turn off the transcription. However, that should not have any affect on your playing of the message. I've done both on numerous messages I have received since the update.

What troubleshooting have you tried? User troubleshooting includes restart, reset, restore from backup, restore to factory. Also, if you have having difficulty with voicemail, you may need to contact your carrier to have them reset it. Voicemail is a carrier feature.

How to turn Off (or On) voicemail transcription:

on the Voicemail page:  click on the Date/Time (located below the Caller's Name, or Phone Number if caller

is not in your Contacts). Click to turn TRANSCRIPTION ON, Click AGAIN to turn TRANSCRIPTION OFF. (Toggle)

    Please pass it on!

Is it possible you are describing behavior in beta? Or is it possible you are just hiding the transcription, not actually turning it off. If you tap on the voicemail again to be able to listen to it, you will see the transcript again. This is normal action.
