safari on iPad air

IPad just upped to 10.0.2 Used Safari in "customary" mode then switched to "private viewing". No problem enabling "private" window. The problem is how to exit "private viewing"?

One suggestion was to press the + at the top right then opt out. All that did was create a new "private" sub-tab.

Another suggestion was to press the "multiple pages" icon on the top far right. Then swipe down and somehow opt out that way. It may have said something about looking for some kind of option on the bottom of the Safari screen.

No combination of exiting Safari then reopening it, pressing the "multiple pages" button, swiping any which way or pressing the + button worked. So, how the heck do I get out of "private viewing" and reenable "customary" Safari viewing?!

Also, Tried to type this into here on the iPad but the font is invisible, or white. How the heck do I change to font color while stuck in Private Viewing? BTW, can sign into here but can’t post. What a mess.
