Sierra logon produces multiple popups

User uploaded file

Since the upgrade to Sierra a series of popup windows show up right after the desktop appears. One is a “Scan From PC Settings” dialog seemingly related to the Canon MX920 we use, even though Printer/Scanner sharing is disabled in System Prefs.

A second popup window is a chronic Java SDK error that also appeared after the initial El Capitan upgrade. This popup appears regardless of whether Java is updated to the latest rev or after the Pref Pane is removed completely from the System Prefs control panel.

The third and ensuing popup windows relate to Firewall settings for “openinfo”, “openexec”, & “openbase” network connections. These popups appear regardless of whether the Firewall settings have been set to either “Allow” or “Block” incoming network traffic for each of these .... and for “openbase” even after the Pref Pane OpenBase has been removed from System Prefs. Plus they appear even after the Firewall has been disabled.

The next Sierra update should address these errors ASAP or we’ll be going back to Yosemite.

Re: The Java SDK error dialog, some application that opens at login requires legacy Java SE 6 from Apple to be installed. It's hard wired to look for that version and does not recognize any Java installations from Oracle (or java.com). Both Apple and Oracle's versions can co-exist without conflict. It's likely to be an older product from Adobe, though it could be something else. Download Java for OS X 2015-001.
