Q: Issues with Mail running under Sierra

Mail does not show/ download attachments (pdf-files etc) in emails which are sent to my hotmail.com email-account. The correct size of the received email is shown, but ether the attachments are not visible or they are not complete. This problem occurs only with emails that are sent tony hotmail account, other email-account (e.g. gmail, web.de mail etc.) are not affected by this issue. I already deleted the account and reinstalled it, resynchronized the account, checked the correct IMAP - Settings, nothing worked out. Now I downgraded via Time machine to El Capitan. Now everything is shown correctly no attachments are missed under El Capitan. Because the time machine did not back up some attachments I ve lost some files unfortunately!!!! Very poor performance though!! I´m really disappointed from Apple!!!   Is there any solution for that Issue???

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), downgraded to El Capitan again

Happens frequently, rather with large attachements; I couldn't find a systematic reason yet; I don't have a hotmail account, though, just a normal IMAP account.

    Hi NEF282,

I have this problem from time to time with Hotmail accounts since Mail 10.0 in Sierra.

Causing a reconstruction of the mailbox «usually» resolves the situation for me.

Select the inbox of your Hotmail account, under the Mailbox menu choose "rebuild".

This forces Mail to rebuild the index of this box by combining information on your device and on the Hotmail account. Depending on the number and weight of the emails in the inbox the process can take several minutes to several hours. You can follow this process through "Activity" in the window menu of Mail.

I also noticed that the account configuration information in Mail 10.0 had been remodeled with Sierra (10.12).

In the "Account Information" section, we now see a "Download attachments" item with a drop down menu with three options; All, Recent and No.Does this item is sometimes involved in the Hotmail account behavior? ... Time will tell.

Meanwhile, it's not a big deal to place a Hotmail shortcut in Safari to quickly recover a devious pdf in Mail ... until the Apple bug hunters find the source of this behavior and apply the remedy though Hotmail may not be innocent either.

    Have a good day.
