iPhone iOS 10 mail app not showing emails

All of a sudden, the mail app on my iPhone 6 (iOS 10) does no longer show all of my Yahoo emails. I see emails from today, and a few very old emails (going back to 2009) but in between, all the emails are missing. This started when I opened the mail app yesterday and was greeted with "downloading 500 messages". After my iPhone was done with "downloading 500 messages" most of my recent emails were gone. I can only get to my Yahoo mail using the Yahoo Mail app (which *****). No problems on my iPad air 2.

I now have a similar problem where my yahoo email was working fine on iOS and for no reason today. I looked at my inbox and it says 'No Mail'. I can still send email but can't view any received and I have tried everything, removed and rewarded email account, restarted the phone, reset network settings, turned off the secure key feature on yahoo mail online and also allowed access to less secure apps in their settings. The account sets up fine but then it still shows no mail. I don't receive any errors at all. Can you help?

Hi, Alex, looking at this thread, there are several of us having the same issue. I have reset the app, the email account uninstall and install, my networks, tried other apps. I cannot get my Yahoo account to download new mail even though I get a banner saying I have email. However, the email never appears. If I log in on a desktop it is there.

I have been having this issue since I downloaded ios10 and it is driving me nuts. My emails eventually reload but WHY are they disappearing in the first place and WHEN is the fix coming? I have to download the Yahoo app for my email because I cannot rely on the native iOS app. The Yahoo app is terrible and would prefer to simply have this fixed. I know others who are experiencing the same thing.

i have exactly this problem.

Deleting the account and then adding it back in works - i.e. it downloads the missing emails, however the problem re-occurs. Deleting the account only seems to solve existing mails i have already received, and not any new ones that fall into the criteria of not being received, This is obviously causing me a real issue.

Good morning Alex -

It looks like there are several of us having the same issue and I don't see a resolution here in this thread. I've got IOS 10.3.2 on my IPhone 6+ and sometime in the last few days I've lost my ability to see any emails older than 6/10/17 in my inbox. Older emails which were saved to sub-folders are still accessible and I have no issues with my Gmail exchange account. I've deleted the yahoo exchange email account, re-installed. Turned the phone on and off, etc. but still nothing. Can you please provide those of us still having issues with guidance? Thank you!

Since June 15 2017 I have had a similar problem on my iPad. My Yahoo! emails are stored and forwarded to another address, but on June 15, the forwarding stopped. I discovered that my previously verified Yahoo! mail forwarding address was unverified. After reverifying my forwarding address, I began receiving Yahoo! emails in my third party email program but new emails no longer appear on my iPad using the Yahoo! Mail app. The new emails do however appear in my Yahoo! Mail inbox when I access Yahoo! Mail with a browser on my laptop.

I had the same problem and I tried everything: delete account and add back; reset settings; restart phones... and while I was reading this thread, I went to my mailboxes --- all inboxes --- go to Search box ---flagged messages --- did any email appear? ---- then click "cancel", finish searching, and now all your disappeared mails should be in your inbox again.

PS make sure you didn't put filter "the bottom left button" on.

I have this issue on my iPad but not my iPhone, or so it appears. this is with MS Outlook account. As others have suggested, delete account and recreate it - watch you have no draft emails you want to keep, these get deleted but not reinstated!

Mind you after having done this numerous times it gets tiring - COME ON APPLE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER and re-issue an update to fix this - don't know whether Apple recognise email as a pretty critical app.

i am converting over to the Outlook app!!

Hi andreasfrommenlo park,

Thank you for bringing your mail issue up in the Apple Support Communities. I use email all the time, so I can understand the concern with not seeing all of your emails in the inbox. Let's see what we can do.

To start, please force close the app and then restart the iPhone. Then launch the Mail app and see if the messages start to load again. If they don't, then please review the following article: Get help with Mail on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch .

Here are some reference articles on how to force close an app and restarting the device, in case you need them.

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Please reach back out if you continue to have issues. Have a great night.

Hi there. I have a similar problem here. I upgraded to IOS10 recently and I notice that some people send me emails and I do not get their email in my inbox on the phone. When I log on to my hotmail on my laptop, I can see the email there in my inbox. But that same email does not show on my phone in the mail app.

I tried searching for the sender in the mail app. This allowed the email that I recevied to show up. In that email, it says in the top "found in hotmail inbox". I can read the email there and everything. but as soon as i exit the search mode, that email disappears again. I cannot find it anywhere in my inbox.

I tried removing the grouping by thread option, but that didn't solve my problem.

I use email a lot and had I not checked using my laptop, I would not have known that I had received any email from that sender. This makes the mail app on the phone totally unreliable. Pls help.
