Q: Pages formatting problems with columns when exported to Word

Hi,

 

I'm creating a resume in Mac Pages 5.6.2 (2573) .... El Captain 10.11.6

I have created to columns with bullets --Format-layout I selected 2 columns .. and added bullets -standard...

I got everything looking good in pages... but when I export to word and re-open the doc in pages I see it lost it's format the 2 column is changed to one column it also took the items in a column and put it on on it's own page wasting lots of space.. this is not a problem when exported to PDF.... I know 5 yrs ago this was a problem!... but has this been solved? -is there a solution?  Thank you for your help!

 

This is not exact cut paste from pages doc--when I paste format changes  but just to show everyone...

Pages version...

After exported to word :

Areas of Expertise and Achievement Categories:  (-everything below this sentence blank .... bullet point items                                                                                             changed to single column and put on own page ...)

• Sales Process

• Problem Solving                                 

• Financial Analysis

    Pages has a unique way of formatting multiple columns within other text.

     

    Pages is not Word, not even a Word clone. If you expect to do most of your work in Word, do it in Word or a Word clone like LibreOffice.

     

    Or stick with exporting to pdfs.
