Frozen mouse and unresponsive trackpad

Trackpad stops working after sleep mode on my MacBook pro late 2013. A temporary fix was doing a SMC reset but the problem still persists. I tried to install the MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.3, but it won't work saying this file is unsupported. I have connected a wired mouse to continue using the computer. Everything is updated.
