Restore Backup of broken phone

PLease help!

I had a 5c but it broke and I can't find it to recover the files. But on my 4s I can see in the "Usage>Manage Storage" section, two phones listed under "BACKUPS" with one of them being a picture of a 5c screen. I can see how big the file is and what the date is, which is when I was using that particular phone—but how can I retreive the files that were backed up? I am trying to retrieve all the photos on it, namely, and don't have the phone in my posession.

I tried using a software PhoneRescue and it only shows iphone 4 backups when I try to access via iCloud.

Any other solutions or advice?

Thanks in advance.

There isn't a way for you to see the contents of a backup to iCloud when you log into iCloud.com

I have never used PhoneRescue but if you are trying to use the Mac version, the following might explain why you are only seeing older iPhone 4 backups but not more current ones made from your 4s. The information below is from https://www.imobie.com/guide/phonerescue/recover-from-icloud.htm

Due to Apple’s security limitation issue, PhoneRescue Mac Version cannot access to iCloud backups with iOS 8.4 and higher while PhoneRescue for Windows version works normally, even with the iCloud backups from iOS 10 devices.

If you are trying to restore the backup from a 5c to your 4s, you should be able to do that but note that you may need to update the iOS on the 4s first. You will also need to erase the 4s. See the "Restore from an iCloud Backup" section of iCloud: Restore or set up your iOS device from iCloud

I see. Perhaps that explains it. However my 4s is at ios 7.1.2 and says "up to date" so I'm guessing I can't update it any further. Perhaps I need to find a suitable phone, get the data via a restore, then offload it to a computer. Is that the only way to get the photos??

If it says that it is up to date at 7.1.2 it would be an iPhone 4. A 4s should update as high as 9.3.5 but even that may not be high enough if your 5c was higher than that when it was backed up to iCloud.

Restoring to another iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch may be the only way.
