Change login screen in Sierra

I wish to have a picture that appears at login. How can I do this. Login picture used to be in the Caches folder but no more.

Please don't suggest changing wall paper in System Preferences as that is not what I am referring to, It is the login screen picture I wish to change.

Any help appreciated.

Here is the process to change the login window background screen to show a custom image and for that image to not show up as blurred. The 2 processes mentioned previous are both used for this.

1 - Place you custom image in the /Library/Desktop Pictures/ folder

2 - Rename Sierra.jpg to SierraBKUP.jpg

3 - Rename your custom image to Sierra.jpg and restart. You now have a custom, but blurred login window screen.

4 - Go to /Library/Caches/ and open in Preview the com.apple.desktop.admin.png file.

5 - In Preview go to Tools -> Show Inspector. Take note of the Image size (pixels).

6 - In Preview open your original custom image. Go to Tools -> Adjust Size.

7 - Change the Width & Height (pixels) to match the Image Size from Step 5. Export the file in PNG format with the name com.apple.desktop.admin into the /Library/Caches and restart.

Viola!!

My Mac Mini begs to disagree with you:

I also checked the image and it is the one I get when I am at the login screen - blurred blue.

Hi, I think i have been confusing Library folders or something but you were right. I found the file, replaced it and it all worked. Brilliant, thanks a lot.
I am still a little confused as I usually don't dig this deep, not since the days of MsDos and AppleDos!

Some how my Alt key no longer shows the Library in the drop down in finder?

But hey you were right...and I appreciate it.

So I was right, you were looking in the wrong Library.

Just a note in Sierra whilst in finder in the Go menu clicking on the alt key no longer displays the Users Library.

If you want to display the Users Library permanently click on your Users/ Home icon in the Finder sidebar then click on View in finder and then Show Options, from there you check the Show Library Folder option.
