Q: My macbook air 13" (2015) is very slow even after a clean installation

Hi,

I have a macbook air 13" from 2015 and it's VERY slow. I have done a clean installation from scratch of El Capitan (10.11.06) and still very slow.

Etrecheck give "Performance : Poor"

Is there a hardware problem ? or what to do?

Thanks

    I notice three things:

    1. CleanMyMac is installed: it has a seriously bad reputation - well earned. Remove it
    2. You had launch agents and demons killed due to insufficient RAM - despite having 8GB of RAM. CleanMyMac might account for some of it but what things are getting auto-run on your computer? Perhaps #3 answers this question
    3. MDworker is one of the top processes by memory. MDworker is the Spotlight index process.

When an OS is newly installed Spotlight must re-index and that could account for #2 above and for how slow the computer feels. After upgrading or installing I generally set my computer to not sleep and leave the computer alone for a while until the index is rebuilt. El Cap's Spotlight is somewhat buggy so if MDworker doesn't settle down you may need to delete and let the index rebuild fresh. Here's a link: Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support

Hi, I did what you asked and also i removed cleanmymac like 'dwb' asked but stil slow. I also remarked that pressing on key "fn" and F1 to F6 the system doesn't do something. added a new etrecheck

Did you just delete CleanMyMac from your hard drive or did you follow the vendor's instructions for uninstalling? I still see its launch deamon listed. Make sure CleanMyMac is totally removed from the computer.

mdworker remains a top process indicating that Spotlight is indexing the drive. This can really make the computer feel slow.

If the computer has been awake for quite a long time the Spotlight index might be corrupt causing mdworker to continuously run. (The last time I had to reindex my MBA it took about 2 1/2 hours and I kept it awake for that entire time.) Check my link about Spotlight and follow the instructions. Then give Spotlight a chance to do its work.

I also note that you don't have TimeMachine configured. If you aren't using another form of backup you are living dangerously.
