OS Sierra Mac Mail attachments missing

Here in Canada it was released as a normal update. Hope it's available there in the UK before Christmas. 🙂

It "arrived" today

I have 10.12.2 installed now, and am not seeing any change in missing attachments.

Question for those reporting success: did you have to rebuild each affected mailbox? How long did that take before you saw results?

I disable Outlook incase and "switched" mail back on (Enable this account)

I'm on imap it took a while but seems to work.

I did not rebuild.

Works ok for me. See prev threads regarding settings. I checked mine and I had those settings and it still didn't work although following those prev threads it resolved it for some.

This was driving me mad, especially when it's been so hard to find any information for such a major issue, but I found the solution further down which seems to have worked and wanted others coming here to prominently see:

Mailbox > Rebuild (your Inbox... or each mailbox you need I guess...?)

They said afterwards in Mail > Preferences > Accounts that Download Attachments was set to None, so they had to set it to All, but mine stayed on All and now my attachments seem to be all appearing fine again. Fingers crossed!

A rebuild (and re-start) does work, but Mine was always set to "Download Attachments"

I am finding that I need to do this about once a day.

I hope they fix it soon.

Results were immediate after the 10.12.2 update on both my iMac and MacBook Air. I did not have to rebuild or take any other action.

Did you see old emails get their back attachments, or only that new ones showed attachments?

I just tested with a new email, sent from my Apple ID IMAP account, to a POP account, and the image does show.

But older emails do not show their attachments.

Old e-mails that had lost their attachments, got their attachments back.

Did you have to do anything special about rebuilding mailboxes or the whole Mail database.

I didn't have that problem. Only thing I can suggest is to rebuild your "Sent" mailbox.

Well, here's where I am, days after 10.12.2:

If I send a new email from my Apple ID IMAP account, I see the attachment.

If I look at older emails which had the failure-to-display problem, they still don't show the attachment. If I move those emails to "Stored in iCloud" the attachments are visible. If I move them back to my On My Mac, the attachments are not visible.

Update your system 10.12.2, these problems have gone away for me.
