Oct 9, 2016 9:13 PM in response to trevozby Klahane,Perhaps what you are saying (if I understand correctly) is that you sent an email from an "account" which uses the IMAP protocol to receive mail and the SMTP protocol to send, and that the result was the the receiving "account" which used the POP protocol still did not show the attachment(s). Is this correct?
No. I sent a test email from my iCloud account. The outgoing account is the same as the receiving account for that email address. I sent that email to a POP account. (We have no other IMAP accounts to check.)
Both the sent mail and the received mail in Mail do not display the images.
I've also sent an email from a POP account, and the sent mail does display the images.
So it looks to me like sent mail from an iCloud account does not display the photos in Mail.

Oct 10, 2016 8:56 AM in response to felixd10by Prescind,~ I've had the same issue since installing Mac OS X10.12 Sierra over one week ago.
When an e-mail is sent with Apple Mail, if there's an attachment such as a photograph or a screen shot, it shows in the e-mail copy in the Sent file.
However, if the same e-mail is moved/dragged to a storage file in ‘On My Mac’ the e-mail text is moved, but the attachment is gone with no trace.
As I often send wildlife photos to university students, this bug results in the loss of specific documentary evidence of what had been sent.
I hope that Apple Mail team will take a close look at this issue to code a fix for inclusion in the next OS X update.

Oct 10, 2016 9:54 AM in response to Prescindby Klahane,I haven't tracked this down yet, but I think the attachments are still stored as they always have been. I have found some I've looked for in the Finder. It seems to be that Mail is not displaying them.
So I'm hopeful that when the bug is fixed, all attachments will show, even in past emails.

Oct 10, 2016 11:20 AM in response to trevozby kfresh,I was having an issue with attachments "disappearing" after opening the email for the first time. I would go and check the same emails from webmail or my iPhone and they would still be there. I'm not having the issue anymore and I think it could be 1 of 2 things.
1. Spotlight finally finished indexing the drive
2. I had originally turned on the "keep only recent attachments" in the storage menu for my email accounts, then turned it off. When I turned it back on for my accounts they began functioning as normal again. I'm now seeing all attachments, I was having issues with .jpg files and .png screenshots never showed the issue. I have the account set up as IMAP btw.
One question that has persisted in email for me though and I was hoping for some help. I can't clear the mail image cache manually. I do web work and I wouldn't have to clear the cache to see updated images in the previous OS release very often. But trashing the mail.db in the ~Library mail cache file would usually clear it. It no longer works in Sierra unless there's a new way that I am not aware of. They seem to clear on their own after about a day. I don't have the luxury of waiting that long. LOL.

Oct 10, 2016 8:23 PM in response to felixd10by RL44,This is a pretty serious bug, unbelievable it's not fixed yet. Does anyone know of a good alternative to Mac Mail?

Oct 10, 2016 10:22 PM in response to felixd10by albionbh,Is this bug only on iMacs?
It seems intermittent. I searched for an attachment and could find it on my iMac, although it was on my iPhone, then I searched another file and found it in Mail downloads by opening each folder.
Frustrating . . . : (

Oct 11, 2016 10:20 AM in response to felixd10by icebreaker2005,I have the same problem, some of my e-mails which has attachments, i can read the email text but there is no attachment in mail.app I already rebuilded 2 times. 1st rebuild was partly successful but after day, there are new emails has same problem. I rebuilded again but this time no luck, there is no attachment. I checked my e-mail through the web interface, there is no problem in attachments all works.
Second bug for me, sometimes i can see the attachment but i can't open them because mail.app says it is corrupted. But when i use my webmail interface there is no problem for that email's attachment. I use my company email as IMAP.
Please fix, this 2 problems just start after i update my OSX to Sierra from El-Capitan.
Best Regards,
Serkan

We are users just like you. We cannot fix the problem.
You should send Apple feedback via their form at Feedback - Mac OS X - Apple

Oct 12, 2016 7:43 AM in response to felixd10by Willie Neumann,My problem is when replying to messages with attachments, the attachments are no longer included in the message. The file name is included, but the attachment is missing. This has not worked since upgrading to Sierra. Still broken in public betas as well. Quite annoying.

Oct 12, 2016 5:59 PM in response to felixd10by JKBurton,I'm having the same issue. At one point chatting with support they had me delete the account and readd it - while it worked at the time, I'm having the same issue again. I delete the account and readd it and the attachments are there but if i receive another email with attachment and the attachment is missing. The paper clip icon is there but no attachment. Very frustrating.

Oct 15, 2016 2:44 AM in response to felixd10by manuelhtsantana,I'm having this issue too, but its even wired, because I made a rebuild of the database and when I select the message I can see the attachment, then I select another one and enche I select it again it simply is not there anymore. On the other hand I have a message with 4 attachments and none is there. I can see them in outlook for android perfectly.

Oct 21, 2016 6:12 AM in response to felixd10by Mrs Mac Lorry,I am having the same problem. The paperclip symbol is there but there are no attachments to click on and open.
Fortunately, I also have a windows computer. Opened the emails in Windows and found the attachments.
Is this problem going to be fixed soon?
