Q: iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Car Stereo Bluetooth Audio Issues

My wife and I have the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. We are both running iOS 10.0.2 and have 2016 Jeep Patriots running the uConnect system. We both previously had the iPhone 6S and didn't experience any issues with audio in our cars. We both had them updated to iOS 10.0.1 when it released and it still worked fine.

With the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, we are experiencing horrible audio issues over Bluetooth to our car stereos. Music will pause, speed up, skip, and give a horrible all around experience. The same issue happens with Podcasts as well. Whether or not the audio is being streamed or is already downloaded has no affect on the issue. I have the same experience with downloaded and streamed audio. These issues remind me of a CD skipping. It's almost nostalgic, but I'd be totally fine with it never happening again.

I've tried to reset all network connections, restore the phone to factory, delete the Bluetooth pairing and repair... nothing seems to help. There has to be some sort of issue in the protocol that is only being used on the iPhone 7 models since this did not exist with the iPhone 6S. I've seen people say that Apple says it will be fixed in 10.1, but I haven't seen any actual release that states that.

I guess I could just plug in to the aux cable, but then I can't charge because you know... wireless audio is the future...

I had a different Bluetooth audio issue (volume incorrect) when connecting my iPhone 7 to my car's audio.  I found that turning off Wi-Fi (Settings > Wi-Fi = "Off") solved the issue.

Might skipping audio have to do with your iPhone being full?  Check Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage (under Storage) and be certain you have absolutely no less than 10% of the iPhone's total storage free.

I will give that a shot. I'm pretty sure I tried this already, but I'll be certain.

I got the 256 GB version so I'm definitely nowhere near full.

iPhone 7 plus here. I have similar issues but maybe to a lesser degree. I noticed in my car, which has a bluetooth adapter, the sound skips randomly. This does not happen using a Bose BT speaker or my girlfriend's MS Sync audio in her car. On 10.0 it was skipping on the Bose as well. After 10.0.1 the Bose is OK. I'm hoping 10.1 fixes the problem on my car setup.
