Ram positioning for Mac Pro 3.1

Hi Everyone,

I currently have 8gb RAM installed as follows:

Riser A: (Top)

2gb in Dim Slot 1

2gb in Dim Slot 2

Riser B: (Bottom)

2gb in Dim Slot 1

2gb in Dim Slot 2

My question is I've ordered an 8gb kit (2 x 4gb) and I'm not sure in which riser/s I should put them so could someone please advise?

Thanks

David

DIMMs are installed in matched pairs in adjacent slots on the same card (except for the case where you have exactly two).

Highest density DIMMs in the lowest-numbered slots is a good idea, but not enforced.

You want to roughly balance the total amount of RAM between the two cards when possible.

If you accidentally fill all slots, the memory switches to double-wide for about a 17 percent average overall speedup.
