Q: (Sierra) Wiki Server— Quicktime content not playing on almost every browser. How to fix?
So, we bought and deployed macOS Sierra (10.12) Server (5.2) on a 2010 MacBook Pro (4GB RAM, 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo), for the sole purpose of rolling out a training Wiki. As such, Wiki Service is the only service running on the machine.
(If it’s helpful, I’ve used almost every version of Wiki Server, since 1.0 in Snow Leopard Server; until this, I thought I was well-versed).
Anyway, none of our staff can play a single video.
• My personal machine is running Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) and Safari (9.1.2) attempts to play, but reports back with “Error” in the QuickTime play bar.
• One user is using the latest Chrome, which refuses to support “NPAPI” plug-ins forevermore (which I’m assuming is what QuickTime is to Chrome).
• Another user is using the latest Firefox. When attempting to play, it loads what appears to be an iFrame in the placeholder image’s place, which says “Page not found."
• A nearby iOS 8 iPad will load the page, but nothing (apparently) happens when tapping play.
• Using Safari (10) on the server actually does play the video.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
