Q: Canon scanner
Opening Sierra from start brings up a screen intended to list scanners for the user to select. For me no scanners are listed. I have a Canon MG7520 which has worked well for more than a year using Apple’s OSs.
After checking the scanner and finding WiFi and other features all in order, attempting to scan brings up a report of several reasons for failure. The last seems to appply. It states that the scanner name is not correct.
Experimenting, I have found a work around starting in Apple Preferences and going to printers and scanners. It runs as follows:
Turn on scanner/ place document on scanner glass/ open Apple preferences (screen top left)/ open printers and scanners/ from scanner names listed/ select or key in Canon MG7500 series 6/ Scanner screen will open (it will show a symbol of a scanner and the word scan in its top right)/ select area to scan in the new box/ click on the scan symbol (a screen will open allowing user to state a name and location for the scan).
All this relates only to Canon printer/scannners, and maybe not all of them. I presume Apple will fix the failure of the Sierra opening screen to do its job.
Will welcome any user comment.
Apple - Hope you are listening.

1) apple can be addressed here
apple.com/feedback
2) this is a canon product, they can choose to support it or not. Apple will not reverse engineer their OS to work for someone elses decision. canon developers had access to OS X 10.12 months before it was public to make working drivers, or not, they chose not
