Q: Projector "no signal" with Apple TV

I have my Apple TV plugged into an HDMI to cat/5e extender to reach our (high) ceiling mounted projector.

• The extender works, I can plug my computer to it and use it as a 3rd monitor.
• The Apple TV and HDMI cord works. I can plug the Apple TV directly into the projector and it works.

I'm using an Apple TV 3rd generation. (If it helps, I also tried hooking up an XBOX 360 to the extender and it did not work.)
