Using a Microsoft Trackball Explorer (Intellipoint) on Sierra?

Hi there

I have my beloved Microsoft Trackball Explorer working perfectly on Yosemite, and haven't upgraded since as I was told that my mouse would no longer work on El Capitan. I am assuming it will be the same case with Sierra.

My question is what would be the best way to get this mouse working again if I upgrade to Sierra? I have each of the 4 buttons assigned to different tasks and would love to use it on this brand new software.

Any help would be very appreciated
