Callers hear their voice echo if I answer calls using carplay after ios10 update

ever since i updated to ios10, anyone who calls me when i am using carplay, hear their voice echo back to them. I even tried to connect my brother's phone through CarPlay and when i called him I could hear my voice echo back. However if I connect iphone via bluetooth then this issue doesn't happen. this issue is consistent across all iPhones running on ios10 as no on previous versions.

Just to throw this out there, on my 2017 Honda Accord EX-L callers get that echo. Like everyone mentioned here, this problem does not occur with Bluetooth, just Carplay when plugged in. I am on Verizon and had an iPhone 7 it happened on. I upgraded to an iPhone 8 Plus and clean installed the os, I also did a Factory reset on my car system to see if that would fix it, and it hasn’t.

I called Honda, they sent to engineers to hopefully work on a fix, especially since Hyundai and Volkswagen were both able to fix it.

So my temporary fix for now until a software update fixes this permanently is as follows:

Go to settings

Go to Cellular

Go to Cellular Data options

Go to Enable LTE

Change option from Voice and Data to just Data

This removes the ability to operate internet while talking, but the echo goes away. I would just turn off Carplay, but I like having that Maps navigation on my screen.

I'm having the same issue...but, it only happens when I'm connected via USB on CarPlay. While driving if I'm in an open area on the freeway between major metropolitan areas it doesn't do it, only when I enter cities then it happens. At that time I have to unplug from CarPlay and wait until Bluetooth connects and the touchscreen in the vehicle asks to switch call and accept then the echo goes away. Next time I will shut off Bluetooth prior to connecting CarPlay and see if it continues.

I am sad to also report on the Apple Carplay problem (with the caller at the other end hearing themselves as a strong echo). A google-search reveals this to have been a problem with several car makes and I find it is also an issue in the brand new Hyundai Ioniq.

The problem occurs when making or receiving a call when connected through Carplay, which requires a wired connection between car and phone. It also occurred before I enabled the bluetooth-connection, which BTW is automatically shut down when you plug in the cable.

The echo problem does not occur when using just the bluetooth connection.

I am also having this issue, although it only occurrs on approximately 20 to 30% of calls. I haven't noticed any correlation between incoming or outgoing calls and/or calls with other iPhones, landlines, or android phones. It especially seems to be an issue when the other caller is in the car on bluetooth, but I can't really confirm this correlation.

I have a iphone 7plus (ATT) with iOS10.1.1 in a 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited w/Nav.

PLEASE FIX THIS APPLE! Otherwise, carplay is amazing.
