I'm sure i know the answer to this is no, but I live at home with my partner, i want to set up an automation where when my iphone and my wife's iphone have left home then trigger leaving home scene, anyone know if there's any way or third party way of making this happen?

This worked, however, it seemed weird that the automation would need to be created from the invitees account. I figured it out by simply toggling OFF/ON the ALLOW REMOTE ACCESS button, it allowed my wife’s geofencing to work without having to toggle the 2nd ALLOW EDITING button to ON.
Probably a big, but it fixed it for me.
Yes it works, you get a warning if someone who’s part of your home is not running iOS 11.

Stumbled across your issue while trying to find a solution to the problem described in the original post. If you haven't figured already - looks like you haven't allowed your wife editing access. Tap the arrow on the top left, make sure 'allow editing' is enabled for your wife, under 'People'.
If you've managed to do that - can you confirm if multi-user geofencing works for you? I'm trying the same thing, but I've had different results over the past couple of days.
I am shocked that a company that we all love like apple hasn't figured this out yet. I have Honeywell lyric thermostats in the house, and my wife and I can both use the Geofencing separate of each other, and it knows when someone is home compared to when someone isn't. it functions perfectly. Has anyone gotten to this work with home kit, mine works and my wife who is invited and has control access over the home cant get automation to work.

No, and no. Apple hardly behaves like they care about HomeKit. I have told them this several times. Since they don't like to add this innovation themselves, and at he same time they don't like HomeKit working with ifttt. Well we are hosed.
You can do this using ifttt recipe, life360 and your Honeywell channel.
Wow, great find! Totally missed this while I was searching for ways to make it work. Giving my wife edit permissions as you described allows me to now set up automations for her as well. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for smart geofencing. I can now have her phone turn stuff on or off, and have my phone turn stuff on and off with geo fencing. But so far they won't check to see if the other phone is home before running the automation. That functionality is definitely needed.
I have written to Apple and placed tons of calls without a call back. It seems like HomeKit was released half baked. It's sad that the manufacturer apps like lutron and Honeywell lyric both work perfectly with multi user geofencing while HomeKit can't get it right. It's shocking that they didn't test all of this before they released it.
Did you create a separate home for your wife? As this is the only way it would work! If you invite your wife and your kids to your home the only person that would have functional automation is the creator.
if you are getting different results, please tell everyone what in detail you are doing as I was told at the moment it can't be done.
HI Darren. I was told at the moment geofence automation was for an invited user/someone other than the creator was impossible. If you got it to work for your wife and kids can you please explain to everyone in steps how you got it to work.
I was told the only way to get it to work now is to create a seperate home for each user which makes no sense to me.
No worries. I am very new to HomeKit but not new to Home Automation (smart homes) having lived in one for the last 10 years. Wish there was a sensible way to rename them. Apple needs to do some work on it all...but it has the promise of being a great platform.
Darren you're my hero for five minutes it worked once on my wife's phone and stopped working. Any suggestions? I read it the automation on my phone and on my wife's phone, logged in and out of iCloud and in and out of the TV
Can you elaborate on this - are you saying that you use your wife or your kids' phones to create the automation and it works for everyone? Asking another way, does everyone have to be invited to HomeKit with edit rights, then only after you have done this, you create the automations and they work for everyone?
Either way, Apple needs to make sure this is more automated and works like other devices with geofencing capabilities.
No HomeKit really doesn't understand the fact that there could be people still in the house. You have to use the geo-fencing targeted to very specific things. HomeKit really has got a lot of growing up and it has to do it very very quickly. I was hoping that IOS 10.3 would have added something...but no.
